DivaCup Review and GIVEAWAY
This is going to be an honest review of the DivaCup in all of it's glory! It may be TMI but it comes with the territory and is necessary to decide whether you will want to try it! My hunch is you will ;) Lets start with the basics about it:
It is a latex, BPA and plastic free silicon cup worn internally to collect menstrual flow. It can be worn up to 12 hours without worry of TSS better known as toxic shock syndrome. 2 great things right there. No worry of latex allergies harmful chemicals and no TSS!!! Oh and no dyes, colors or additives! And it gets better. There are only 2 sizes to choose from and it is so simple.
Model 1: For women under 30 years old who have never delivered vaginally or by cesarean section.
Model 2: For women over 30 years old and/or for women who have delivered vaginally or by cesarean section. How easy is that???
Now for my personal experience:
I have the model 2 even though I'm under 30 because I have delivered 3 babies. It is suggested to trim the stem to avoid discomfort but I decided not to and decide if I needed to after the fact. I ended up keeping it the original length as it never bothered me. One of my favorite features being that for me I experienced only 1 leak in the 3 cycles I have used it. It wasn't even until my second cycle and most likely due to my kids yelling for me so I was rushing and apparently didn't get it in just right with a good seal. Nothing I couldn't go in and fix right away since I could feel it was off a bit. I was very afraid to leave the house the first few days as I have a very heavy flow. I never had a leak even at night!!!! It was amazing there in that fact. Also on light days it is nice to just put it in and be able to forget it for awhile without any fear. My days are full with 3 little ones so one less thing is great! I will say there are tons of ways to "fold" it so if at first you don't succeed try again. I lucked out and had no issue with the "U" style fold. When you are ready to empty just pull it out and wash with hot water and mild soap or the diva wash. There are a list of things NOT to use here along with answers to every possible question you may have.
I also want to mention I have a tilted uterus and that is what caused me to hold off on trying the DivaCup for so long since I had heard it doesn't work well with that issue. Like I said above I have had no issues with leaks or discomfort at all. Another thing I love is how easy it is to pack the small bag it comes with in my purse or bag. We are on the road a lot so it is great to not have to pack a box of tampons and just the simple bag that fits anywhere.
I was not paid for this review or endorsement.

ReplyDeleteIt is awesome you wont regret it!
DeleteI would love to WIN as I've heard so many good things about it and heard that it changes how you feel about your 'monthly friend'.
ReplyDeleteIt does! I dont dread it like I did...no guess work or well....work really!
Deletei'm ines martins.
ReplyDeleteI havent tried yet DivaCup cause I think it is no sold here in Portugal, but I would like to try it because I care about my health and the future of the planet.
No good...I hope it will be available everywhere soon!
DeleteI've been researching for a while and would really like to try one for environmental reasons. I am a mostly pad user and am switching to cloth but need a green alternative for swimming and beach trips and dress up times. Thanks for this giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteYour welcome! Good luck!
DeleteI would love, love, love to win this and try the DivaCup! It would be a lot healthier to use and cheaper, with 5 kiddos I am all for saving money! Oh and let's not forget convenient, no more running to the store purchasing tampons because my period came early!
ReplyDeleteA must with multiple kids that is for sure...good luck!
DeleteI want one so bad...switched over to those disposable menstrual cups about a year and half ago. Being the green girl I try to be though, I would wash and reuse it. So instead of using a few of them each 'cycle' I would use no more than two. I forgot what they are called but you can get them at Walmart.
ReplyDeleteIn-steads I think? Good luck!
DeleteI have wonder if it would work with some one who has had a couple of kids?
ReplyDeleteYes it does!!! I feel like the more kids you have the more helpful this is!
DeleteI have been a Diva Cup user for the last 4 years and will never go back to tampons! It seriously has changed periods for me in a very positive way!
ReplyDeleteI agree! I can't believe I lived without this!
DeleteI would like to try it. Since cloth diapering I have been trying to do things that are better for the environment.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! Good luck!
DeleteI have fertility issues and was worried this wouldn't be a good idea, but I spoke to my doctor and she said the complete opposite!!! She said it's healthier and very good for maintaining pH balance and I would LOVE to try it!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense...glad you found out! Good luck to you and baby dust!
DeleteI haven't tried a Diva Cup because I don't want to spend the money only to find out that it doesn't fit right.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried it yet because I am not sure if I would like it but I am willing to try it since I want to be greener, and help the environment. (less disposables equals less waste)
ReplyDeleteMy friend and her sister have used (and still is using) the Diva Cup and I have yet to try one. I'm not sure where to go to purchase one. I want something different from tampons and pads. I don't like the way that I feel with tampons and pads. I feel disgusting, have frequent yeast infections while using them, and the smell...ugh... I would love to try the Diva Cup so I can be free from the ordinary!
ReplyDeleteI recently found out that regular pads and tampons are carcinogenic. I have been looking for alternate products since and I just came across the DivaCup. I would love to try it - it sounds amazing!
